Regional Director
Founded on the belief that a country’s natural resources belong to its citizens, the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) brings together governments, civil society and companies to improve natural resource governance. With over 50 member countries and 60 supporting companies, the EITI promotes transparency, accountability and informed policymaking in the extractive sector.
Behind this ambitious and impactful organisation is a diverse and dynamic team of experts working together to advance the EITI mission. Based in Oslo, Norway, the EITI International Secretariat comprises a collaborative, multinational and multilingual team of around 50 professionals who value growth and development, strong relationships, open dialogue and inclusive leadership.
We are seeking a motivated and experienced manager with strong leadership and interpersonal skills to guide the International Secretariat’s Data Team. Reporting to the Technical Director and working within the wider Disclosure Group, the Senior Data Manager will lead implementation of the EITI Data Strategy and support the organisation’s open data objectives.
Key priorities include making country data more accessible and timely through greater automation; promoting the responsible use of AI both within the Secretariat and at the country level; and strengthening data analysis and use. The Senior Data Manager will coordinate data work across the International Secretariat; have project management, budget, planning and execution responsibilities; and have overall responsibility for maintaining a comprehensive repository of EITI data. This role will involve keeping abreast of developments in open data, data standards, interoperability and AI and engaging with international stakeholders.
While you do not need to be a data scientist, data analyst or developer for this role, you do need to have a strong foundation in applied data work and an ability and experience leading data professionals and collaborating across the EITI’s international community.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a multi-stakeholder organisation driving positive global change.
Located in central Oslo, the EITI International Secretariat offers hybrid work options, attractive benefits and an above-market pension and insurance package. See information about the benefits we offer here.
The Secretariat can offer employment in Norway based on the Norwegian salary structure. Indicative gross salary benchmarking suggests a range of NOK 933,000 to NOK 1,000,000. The final offer will be determined based on factors including the labour market, role requirements, internal equity, budget, work location and the successful candidate’s experience and skills.
Our preference is for this role to be based in Oslo, alongside the other members of the Data Team. However, remote working may be considered, provided the preferred candidate’s location does not prevent them from fully participating in the Secretariat’s day-to-day work or travelling to Oslo when required by organisational needs.
Email applications will not be processed. Please note that we will review candidates on a rolling basis.

The Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) is the global standard to promote the open and accountable management of oil, gas and mineral resources.
Guided by the belief that a country’s natural resources belong to its citizens, the EITI has established a global standard to promote the open and accountable management of oil, gas and mineral resources. The EITI Standard requires the disclosure of information along the extractive industry value chain from the point of extraction, to how revenues make their way through the government, and how they benefit the public. By doing so, the EITI seeks to strengthen public and corporate governance, promote understanding of natural resource management, and provide the data to inform reforms for greater transparency and accountability in the extractives sector. In each of the 55 implementing countries, the EITI is supported by a coalition of government, companies, and civil society.
The EITI is committed to achieving diversity in terms of gender, nationality, culture and educational background. The EITI is an equal opportunities employer.
