Technology is changing what good care can look like.
Used well, technology can help care professionals identify risks earlier, respond faster and provide care that is better adapted to each individual. It can improve collaboration between colleagues, create greater continuity in everyday work and give care teams more time to focus on the people who need them.
Sensio is a leading European care technology company. Through our software platform Sensio 365, our nurse call solution, and our ‘hero-product’ the RoomMate AI multisensor, we help care providers deliver safer, more personalized and more efficient care. RoomMate is developed and manufactured in Norway, and it is probably the most widely deployed sensor of its kind across elderly care anywhere in the world.
With the backing of Nordic Capital, a leading European healthcare and healthtech investor, we are investing actively in product development and expanding the impact of our technology across international markets.
We’re looking for a dev lead for RoomMate
This role will be leading the team and technical development of RoomMate. Today, it helps reduce falls and gives care teams better insight without relying on wearables or constant in-person monitoring.
As Dev Lead for RoomMate, you will take responsibility for the technical direction, quality and delivery of the product. You will lead a team of eight people whom you are responsible for managing day-to-day, and will collaborate closely with other Dev Leads, product, ML, hardware and engineering colleagues to make sure the team is moving in the right direction, at the right pace and with the right level of quality. As a dev lead for RoomMate you will be a part of our technical leadership group, consisting of other dev leads, product managers and our CPTO. On a day-to-day-basis, you will collaborate closely with our product manager, working together to make decisions regarding direction, development and priorities.
The right person combines deep technical understanding with the perspective to lead people, set priorities and affect longer-term strategic direction. You are comfortable stepping out of the code while staying close enough to make credible technical judgments. We are looking for someone who can understand complex embedded software and hardware-related challenges, and support strong specialists to make good decisions.
You should be able to lead discussions about embedded Linux, C++, sensors, hardware constraints, product quality and machine learning on the edge. You should also be able to translate those constraints into clear priorities, trade-offs and direction for people who do not necessarily speak “circuit board” fluently.
The role can be based at Sensio’s offices in Oslo city centre, or in Sandvika, and will involve close collaboration across teams.
Your day-to-day
You will lead the RoomMate development team and take responsibility for technical direction, quality, priorities and delivery. Your daily work will include:
Leading, supporting and developing a team of around eight engineers and specialist
Setting technical direction and helping the team make good architectural and product decisions
Driving quality, progress and delivery across embedded software, hardware-related development and product improvements
Working closely with other Dev Leads, product, design and engineering colleagues to deliver on Sensio’s value proposition
Sparring on complex technical challenges, including embedded Linux, C++, sensors, edge ML and hardware constraints
Contributing hands-on when needed, while spending most of your time on technical leadership, coordination, quality and team development
This is what we’re looking for
We are looking for a technically strong Dev Lead with deep embedded software experience from products in operation. If you’re the right candidate for the job, you probably have:
You do not need to be the most hands-on developer in the team, but you need to be technically close enough to understand the complexity, challenge assumptions and support good technical decisions. The main value you bring is not writing the most code. It is creating direction, progress and quality for the team and the product.
Bonus points if you have experience with one or more of the following:
IoT, sensors, computer vision, optics, time-of-flight technology or similar sensor-driven products
Industries such as medtech, automotive, telecom, energy, industrial technology, robotics or similar
Roles such as Tech Lead, Dev Lead, Engineering Manager, Staff Engineer or Principal Engineer with leadership responsibility
What Sensio can offer
At Sensio, you will work on technology with a clear purpose and a genuine user need. RoomMate is developed for real care environments, where reliability, precision and thoughtful engineering directly affect both the people receiving care and the professionals supporting them.
As Dev Lead for RoomMate, you will have a central role in shaping one of Sensio’s most important products. You will work at the intersection of embedded software, sensors, hardware, machine learning and product development, in a role where technical decisions have real-world impact.
This is the kind of leadership role where good engineering becomes more than good engineering. It becomes safety, dignity and more time for care.
What we can offer:
This is a role for someone who wants the complexity of embedded technology, the responsibility of technical leadership and the meaning of working on products that matter in everyday life.
If you want to lead the development of technology that leaves the lab and helps shape the future of care, we would like to hear from you.
